As the second daughter born in the ruling house of Temair, Therese had always felt that somehow, she was in her father's way or in her sister's shadow. She was the middle child; only two years older than Philippa, which meant that she wasn't the baby of the family either. With her mother devoting most of the time to the younger, and her father doting on Eliza, teaching her the ways of ruling, she ended up being a bit left out, and started to slowly resent her siblings.

While she grew up to be quite prettier than her sisters, she carefully hid her bitterness towards them and her parents; it was not a proper thing for a Lady to do, after all. While she didn't wish to become too proper, (that would be boring), and she likely wouldn't have too much duties in the household, once Eliza took over, she realized that she would have to find something to do. She then began studying the ways of the land as best she could, learning from tutors that Eliza herself had studied with for a time. She kept most of this secret, not sure exactly what she would do with the information.

Weapons would not do for her; she attempted to learn the sword like her sister before her, though it was not something that she could manage. She disliked it anyway; and found that she had some talent with light magic, so in the end chose to work with that. At the least, it would make a statement about her being delicate; which was something she needed for appearances sake; to be delicate and beautiful so no one would suspect her of training too much, of thinking too much about things that shouldn't have had any concern with her.

Lord Thomas's courtship with her has been for a few months; he is to become Lord when he succeeds his father, and she wouldn't mind assisting him; it would be a step up from her current situation, which was mostly dealing with her mother's ... ailment, and trying to help her as best she could, though half of the time the woman couldn't keep her name straight. And listening to Philippa, and building more resentment towards Eliza, as she seems to hold all the cards. Nallen itself is strange to her; their insistance upon holding such a strict routine bothers her, though she will go along with it and even marry Thomas, and will consider implementing any changes upon it after she has enough time to watch them more.



. personality .

Aside from all of this hidden bitterness, which she strictly keeps secret, Therese, or Tessa, as she is known to family and friends, on the surface is the devoted sister and daughter; she will listen to all that needs to be said before drawing her conclusions, and is sure to always speak pleasantly to others. She pretends that she doesn't know as much about the innerworkings of the government that she does, pretending that all she does have is her beauty and not much else. She pretends to be close with Philippa, though it is not as close as a bond as she believes the younger woman thinks it is. Though she sometimes wonders whether they are both using the other in some way.

She loves her nephew Ethan, and doesn't want him harmed in any way. She does love her sisters as well; it's like a tennis ball sometimes, the way the two emotions can be knocked back and forth, putting her at unease. Sometimes she might be caught with an expression that normally isn't on her face when she is in too much thought about her family and the choices that she will make in her future; but that can easily be explained away as "debating what outfit to wear for the next day".

With an almost doll-like beauty to her, Tessa is small and slender, with long and wavy brown hair that has red highlights to it. She has clear grey eyes framed by long lashes. She wears pretty clothes that compliment her natural good looks, along with a few simple -- yet also pretty -- necklaces.
