I realize that you are very unwell, Mother, but you could stand to remember my name at least once. Mistake me for Eliza, as if Eliza spends as much time with you as I do. Mistake me for Phillipa, she won't be happy to hear about that, as she is ever so possesive of you. As you were of her.
I suppose it's better when you refer to me as that "nice maid that helps you out" ever so often, when when I remind you that it's Tessa, I am your daughter how hard can it be to -- [crossouts]
I suppose I cannot fault you too much for it, it isn't as if Father was any different than you were... he had his Eliza as much as you had Phillipa. Perhaps you would have had me, if you had not had her afterwards? I wonder.
And you are ill, Mother, which is a better excuse for it these days, at the least.

I have been reading back through this book... it does seem terribly complicated, though some hands are more recognizable than others, I've found.
It reads like a terribly disjointed novel... very hard to follow at times, easier at others.
